Frankly Speaking Podcast - Sustainable Turfgrass Management
Tuesday, February 4
3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Power Hour
A negative public perception combined with a changing philosophy toward environmental stewardship has pushed the topic of sustainable turfgrass management to the forefront of the golf course industry. Sustainable practices allow turfgrass practitioners to utilize resources more efficiently, mitigate the impact of management on the environment, and strengthen the capacity for adaptation to unpredictable weather variability. Sustainability is achieved through the adaptation of current management trends and the adoption of new technology including but not limited to site-specific management, improved turfgrass cultivars, sensors and big data, alternative landscapes, reducing high-input turfgrass acreage, bio-nutrition, and inclusion of pollinator habitat. There’s no better way to explore such a hot topic than to enlist the charisma of Frank Rossi, Ph.D., to interview a panel of academic and industry experts during a live taping of Frankly Speaking. Panelists will include Jay McCurdy, Ph.D., from Mississippi State University, Susana Milla-Lewis, Ph.D., from North Carolina State University, David McCall from Virginia Tech, Ph.D., Rebecca Grubbs Bowling, Ph.D., from University of Tennessee, Bill Kreuser, Ph.D., from the GreenKeeper App, Chase Straw, Ph.D., from Texas A&M University, and Gerald Henry, Ph.D., from University of Georgia.
Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions to the panelists to further the discussion during the interview.
