Matthew J Ceplo, CGCS Retired

Matt Ceplo, CGCS, has been the golf course superintendent at Rockland Country club for the past 26 years. Rockland is a private 18-hole golf course established in 1906 and is located only 10 minutes from the George Washington Bridge in Rockland County New York. Some of Ceplo’s achievements include: Received In 2011 the Global Sports Alliance’s New York Environmental Steward Award; 2012 the Metropolitan (New York) Golf Associations Arthur P. Weber Environmental Steward Award; 2013 he GCSAA President’s Award for Environmental Stewardship; 2016 Environmental Steward Award from New Jersey Turfgrass Association. Ceplo’s involvements include: Past President of the MetGCSA; Past President Tri-State Research Foundation; Member Audubon International Board of Directors and Audubon Certified; Chairman of the Rockland Water Quality Committee; Member of the Sparkill Creek Watershed Alliance; Established Rockland Country Club as a Monarch Way Station and a Designated Operation Pollinator Golf Course; Runs an annual fishing derby to show case Rockland’s irrigation pond and sponsors local environmental activities with girl and boy scouts. Rockland is an Official Release Site for the Raptor Relocation Network.
