Balancing Design, Construction, and Maintenance for a Successful Golf Course Renovation

Tuesday, February 4
8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Registration Required

Balancing design, construction, and maintenance priorities is critical for a successful golf course renovation but getting the best results from sometimes competing interests can be challenging. Architectural goals may cause maintenance issues, construction factors may negatively impact the architectural process, and issues with any area of the project may lead to unhappy golfers. In this seminar, we will outline strategies for planning and executing a small- or large-scale golf course renovation project and give you a better understanding of the design, construction, and agronomic considerations that influence the process. We will enhance these points by taking an in-depth look at the recently completed restoration work at Pasatiempo Golf Club with the team leading the project, including golf course superintendent Justin Mandon and consulting architect Jim Urbina. When golf course superintendents, builders, and architects collaborate and communicate effectively they can avoid common pitfalls and deliver a renovation project that provides enjoyable golf for decades to come.
