Manuel Roman Chavarria Sanchez, Ph.D.
Manuel Chavarria, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor and Extension in Turfgrass in Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University and AgrilLife Extension. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular and Environmental Plant Sciences from Texas A&M University. His primary research interest lies in the realm of turfgrass physiology and abiotic stress. Chavarria’s work primarily revolves around addressing turfgrass management needs for various entities such as homeowners, municipalities, sport fields, golf courses, and sod farms. His extension and research program is notably dedicated to addressing the challenges of managing warm-season turfgrasses under physiological stress due to factors like salinity, subpar water quality, water conservation in urban landscapes, and drought-stress.
