John P Cunningham, CGCS
John Cunningham, CGCS, received his degree in agronomy from Valencia College in Orlando, Fla., and has been a Certified Golf Course Superintendent since 2003. Cunningham spent the first 10-plus years of his career in Florida, managing championship golf most notably at Black Diamond Ranch a 45-hole, top-100 golf facility. Cunningham then joined the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Dallas, Texas, where he was responsible for the complete renovation and rebranding of the TPC at Las Colinas golf course, which was the host course of the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship. Cunningham accepted the position as Assistant General Manager/Director of Agronomy at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Mo. Cunningham joined Bellerive and helped prepare the Club to host the 2013 Senior PGA Championship and completed a $2.3 million renovation as Bellerive was the host course of the100th PGA Championship in 2018. He went on to become the General Manager/COO at Aronimink Golf Club, a Top 10 Platinum Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa. Aronimink was the host site for the 2018 BMW Championship and the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Cunningham has recently accepted the General Manager/COO position at Grandfather Golf and Country Club in Linville, N.C. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains the Club boasts the #2 ranked course in North Carolina, a second par-three/par four golf course, and a full-service private club including tennis, fitness.
