Samuel B Martin, Ph.D.
Bruce Martin, Ph.D., is a professor of plant pathology at Clemson University. He holds degrees from Hendrix College, the University of Arkansas and North Carolina State University. Martin’s research focuses on fungicide control programs for bentgrass and bermudagrass greens, nematode control, fungicide efficacy and diseases of turf caused by Rhizoctonia. His university appointment includes a mix of teaching, research and extension. Martin’s excellence in the turfgrass industry has been well-documented through the numerous awards he has received, including the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service Superior Performance Award, an Outstanding Service Award presented by the Turfgrass Council of North Carolina and a Distinguished Service Award from the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association. During his time at Clemson, he has served as the Interim Director, Pee Dee Research & Education Center and is currently the Turf Team Coordinator. In addition to participation in many state and regional turfgrass conferences around the country, Martin has lectured on turf pathology in Singapore, Japan and in South America. He has been a GCSAA faculty member since the early 1990s.
