Bernd Leinauer, Ph.D.
Bernd Leinauer, Ph.D., is a Professor and Extension Turfgrass Specialist in the Extension Plant Sciences Department at New Mexico State University. He also holds the endowed chair in turfgrass ecology at Wageningen University in Holland. His extension and research program focuses on developing water management strategies aimed at reducing the amount of (potable) water used for irrigation. Leinauer has given over 200 presentations and lectures worldwide and has authored and co-authored a book, a book chapter, over 70 scientific peer-reviewed research papers, and nearly 200 reports and abstracts. In his spare time he enjoys going to the opera and long distance running (10 times Boston Marathon finisher). He has been a GCSAA member since 1988 and has taught frequently to GCSAA groups.
