Lora Beth West is the Assistant Director of Agronomy at Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles, California. She attended Rutgers University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Plant Science: Horticultural and Turfgrass Management. Something that she found on a whim when looking through majors after deciding genetics was no longer the most exciting option. The first time Lora Beth set foot on a golf course was in May of 2014 when she began an apprenticeship at The Los Angeles Country Club. LACC provided the resources and opportunities to gain the experience and exposure to the multifaceted industry. In 2019, she left LACC as their spray tech and went across the street to Hillcrest Country Club to take on the next role. It was going through a full golf course redesign and renovation that had a lot of new challenges ahead and a lot of experience to gain. Lora Beth has had the privilege to be part of two golf course renovations, volunteering at 7 different tournaments across the country in the past seven years, has attended Bayer Women in Golf and John Deere Green Start Academy, and was named Manager of the Year at Hillcrest Country Club in 2020. Outside of work, Lora Beth spends time with her soon-to-be husband cooking and exploring the many opportunities that California offers.
