GCSAA Podcast with Amy Bockerstette, hosted by Scott Hollister

Thursday, February 1, 1 - 2 PM
GCSAA Podcast Stage

Join Amy Bockerstette and Tracy Hupko, Executive Director of the I Got This Foundation and learn more about Bockerstette's journey in the game of golf and what she and the I Got This Foundation are doing to help golfers with disabilities get into the game of golf. As you may recall, Bockerstette is a bit of a legend in part due to making an amazing par at the par-3 16th at the Waste Management Open in 2019 alongside PGA Tour Player Gary Woodland. Her story, and the I Got This Foundation story, a local 501(c)(3) doing great things on a national scale goes much further, including Bockerstette playing college golf.

This podcast will help owners and operators better understand how to communicate with players with intellectual disabilities. Their equipment and their access is not different. However, how these important individuals at a golf facility are treated makes a big difference. Intellectual disabilities are not as easy to see or understand but during this podcast Bockerstette and Hupko will help you learn about the sensory side of golf. They have recently worked with the LPGA to create the Discovery Golf program.

Bockerstette will also have a meet and greet from 10 a.m. -  noon on Thursday at Golfs Sustainability Showcase just outside the convention center entrance. Please join her in putting a few balls and get to know this star athlete who recently competed in the 2nd annual U.S. Adaptive Open.
