Brian Whitlark
Brian Whitlark is the regional director of the west region for the USGA Green Section's Course Consulting Service. Whitlark graduated from the University of Arizona with a master's degree in soil science with an emphasis in turfgrass science. He worked in the turfgrass industry for almost 10 years prior to joining the USGA Green Section in 2008 as an agronomist for the West Region. He is a certified professional soil scientist and visits over 80 golf courses per year while conducting Course Consulting Service (CCS) visits throughout Arizona, California, New Mexico, Hawaii and Nevada.

Chris Hartwiger
Chris Hartwiger is based in Pinehurst, N.C. and is the director of agronomy for the USGA Green Section. Before joining the USGA in 1995, Hartwiger received a bachelor’s degree at the College of William and Mary and a master’s degree at North Carolina State University. While at NCSU, he completed a thesis investigating the effects of lightweight roller use on bentgrass putting greens. Prior to his current position, he served as the Director of Course Consulting. He continues to work as an agronomist serving golf facilities throughout the country. He has a passion for helping superintendents develop the best management programs possible for their location. He enjoys speaking to industry-related groups and writing articles for various turfgrass publications.
